Credential wallets
Cross-platform wallets that hold identity and farmer credentials on the user's phone, built with React Native and Expo.
Context
A verifiable credential is only useful if the person it describes can carry it and choose what to share. For Eumi and the farmer-credential programme that meant a wallet on the phones people already have, Android and iOS alike.
What I built
- The Eumi wallet in Expo, which receives credentials issued after Aadhaar offline verification and DigiLocker-to-VC issuance.
- A cross-platform credential wallet for W3C Verifiable Credentials describing farmer attributes, where the holder discloses only the attributes a verifier asks for.
Engineering
- Cross-platform. Both wallets share one React Native and Expo codebase across Android and iOS.
- Security on the device. Credentials are sensitive personal data, so the apps were built with on-device security as a requirement, not a later pass.
- Release optimisation. Android release builds use ProGuard/R8 to shrink and obfuscate the shipped code.
Beyond wallets
I also build client-specific cross-platform apps, shaped around each customer’s workflow and requirements, on the same React Native and Expo stack.
